Music Announcement: Dogwood Rose

Opening this years festival are Dogwood Rose – a Sheffield based Americana trio featuring Judy Clifford on vocals, Mike Richards on guitar / vocals and Kiri Smith on fiddle. Judy and Michael have been playing and singing together for several years on the Sheffield folk circuit and beyond – Judy’s voice is frequently compared to Joan Baez: powerful, soulful singing. Kiri joined them, adding fiddle accompaniment and a 3rd voice for the strong harmonies, a varied set and a lot of fun!

Dogwood Rose last played Worrall Festival in 2015 and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back!

worrall 2018 fb profile

We are pleased to announce that Worrall Festival & Gala will return on Saturday 7th July 2018. This year we are focusing our efforts to deliver a one day event featuring a mixture of Children’s activities, live music from local musicians and our usual selection of fine locally brewed ales.

The Gala will be opened at 1pm by Magid Magid, the new Lord Mayer of Sheffield, and will have a WWI theme with games and competitions for all the family. The Festival will follow on at 4pm with live music until 10pm. Our Real Ale bar will be open throughout the day with a broad selection of real ales and traditional ciders.

We’re busy finalising the Festival & Gala programme and will post more details soon.

Friday 16th June
6.30pm – late

Entry is free but donations gratefully received on the night. All money raised will go towards supporting Worrall Festival – an annual music and ale charity event, held in the country village of Worrall on the edge of Sheffield.

(If you’re interested in playing it will be fairly informal – give us a heads up in advance if possible, or just show up on the night with an instrument!)
