We’re very excited to announce that the James Taplin Band will be headlining the festival this year.
Having made a name for himself in South Yorkshire’s bars and clubs as one of the regions most beloved singer-songwriters, James Taplin, ‘The Voice’ of bluesy-roots and acoustic rock & soul, is paving the way for a promising future ahead. James will be joined by his band which includes the equally talented Michael Holmes on Harmonica. These guys are not to be missed!
Opening this years festival are Dogwood Rose – a Sheffield based Americana trio featuring Judy Clifford on vocals, Mike Richards on guitar / vocals and Kiri Smith on fiddle. Judy and Michael have been playing and singing together for several years on the Sheffield folk circuit and beyond – Judy’s voice is frequently compared to Joan Baez: powerful, soulful singing. Kiri joined them, adding fiddle accompaniment and a 3rd voice for the strong harmonies, a varied set and a lot of fun!
Dogwood Rose last played Worrall Festival in 2015 and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back!
It’s official! This year’s posters and flyers have gone to print. Keep your eyes peeled for them popping up around Sheffield.
And watch this space as we’ll be revealing our full festival line up soon!
So, with just 4 weeks to go until Worrall Festival & Gala 2018 we are pleased to announce the first of this year’s musical acts, local singer-songwriter Kid Conventional.
Kid Conventional aka Jack Weston was the winner of Yorkshire Unplugged 2013, off the back of which he recorded his first studio EP, “Maps”. His single “No Promises” (Dec 2015) was named #15 in Top 50 of 2015 by BBC Radio Sheffield Introducing. Since then, he has spent most of his time playing shows, supporting the likes of Edwina Hayes, Little Comets and CC Smugglers, gaining new fans and wowing crowds with his engaging emotional performances.
Watch this space for more announcements over the coming weeks!
We are pleased to announce that Worrall Festival & Gala will return on Saturday 7th July 2018. This year we are focusing our efforts to deliver a one day event featuring a mixture of Children’s activities, live music from local musicians and our usual selection of fine locally brewed ales.
The Gala will be opened at 1pm by Magid Magid, the new Lord Mayer of Sheffield, and will have a WWI theme with games and competitions for all the family. The Festival will follow on at 4pm with live music until 10pm. Our Real Ale bar will be open throughout the day with a broad selection of real ales and traditional ciders.

Gardeners Rest Pub – Kelham Island
Join our final Worrall Festival fundraiser event this year, to be held at the Gardeners Rest pub in Kelham Island. We will be hosting an open-mic/jam session alongside a BBQ, great beers and hopefully some sunshine! Come along to catch some of our brilliant festival musicians warm up together!
Entry is free but donations gratefully received on the night. All money raised will go towards supporting Worrall Festival – an annual music and ale charity event, held in the country village of Worrall on the edge of Sheffield.
(If you’re interested in playing it will be fairly informal – give us a heads up in advance if possible, or just show up on the night with an instrument!)
